Hot Potatoes

About this Series

1 Corinthians
This is a series looking at one of the Apostle Paul’s longest letters. Corinth is in modern-day Greece and was a thriving commercial centre due to its proximity to the sea. As a church it certainly had its problems. But then what church doesn’t have problems?

1 Corinthians 8 | Peter MacPherson |

The series is called "Hot Potatoes" because this letter is full of issues that Christians may disagree on. The early church at Corinth seems to have comprised people with vastly different opinions and therefore the church was quite divided. Today’s passage may seem about an outdated or esoteric issue (ie eating meat that has been sacrificed to an idol) but it is actually a test case about how Christians can disagree and yet might still remain in good relationship with one another.
