Romans 9:30-10:13 | Wei Han Kuan
We have just started a short series in Romans 9-11. One of the great themes of Romans is the universality of the gospel. In today’s passage we can see this clearly in 10:11-13 with phrases like “anyone who trusts in him [Jesus] …. the same Lord is Lord of all … Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” In Paul’s day this was being applied in the context of a Jewish/Gentile division. In our day it must be applied in the context of a global village, multi-faith world. For example at St Alfred's it means we must continue to proclaim the gospel to the “all” and “everyone” of whatever ethnic or religious background that we encounter. It also means that missionaries are still needed to go to every people group and proclaim the gospel. At St Alfred's we are therefore committed to both local and global mission.
