Peter MacPherson - Senior Minister
Peter has been the Senior Minister since September 11th, 2000. Before that he had been a student minister and curate at St Alfred's. He trained at Ridley Melbourne and has also worked on the staff team of Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. Peter is presently the Archdeacon of Box Hill. Peter is married to Virginia and has three children, Hannah, David and Naomi. A long time ago Peter was born in Scotland and quite a while ago he was a secondary school English teacher. Wei-Han Kuan - Senior Associate Minister
Wei-Han leads our evening congregation and young adult ministry. He is passionate about teaching, preaching and helping young workers live for Jesus. Wei-Han worked in tax law before training for ministry at Ridley Melbourne where he is an adjunct lecturer. He is married to Valerie and they have two young children, Alexandra and Samuel. Wei-Han recently finished a doctorate on the history of evangelicalism in Melbourne. He also serves on the executive of the Evangelical History Association, and as editor of Essentials, the journal of EFAC Australia. Kieran Carr - Youth Minister
Kieran leads a team of volunteers who run our youth ministry (for everyone in high school). He loves youth ministry because it was a missing ingredient in a critical time of his life, but now he recognises the value of good Christian friends and mentors. Kieran's priority is to engage the head and heart through clear Bible teaching and help teenagers to own their personal faith. He also loves having a good belly-laugh with his wife Ruth, listening to good bands, and watching Australia play sport. Bev Churchward - Pastoral Care Minister
Bev is our part time pastoral care minister. She has a particular passion to see lives and relationships transformed by God. Bev has a nursing background and trained at Ridley Melbourne. Bev's husband Graeme and her lead our marriage ministries. Bev also has oversight of St Alfred's healing ministry. Now an ‘empty nester’ she especially enjoys time with her family and young grandson. Heather Mitchell - Church Administrator
Heather oversees our office administration with the help of lots of wonderful volunteers. Born and raised in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) Heather and Mike immigrated to Australia in 1991. "We came to St Alfred’s originally looking for somewhere to baptise our son, but found a fantastic community who were welcoming, loving and made us feel very much at home. Watching our sons Craig and Matthew grow in their faith to become teenagers and young adults, passionate about Jesus, is something we cherish. We also enjoy camping, 4 wheel-driving and watching movies - when we get the time!" Shaun Islip - Music and Creative Arts Minister
Shaun has more than 30 years of ministry experience in the UK, USA, South Africa and Australia, including a professional career as conductor, soloist and cabaret performer. He trained as singer, conductor, french horn player and pianist at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and currently conducts 8 community choirs in Melbourne. Shaun is married to Margot, and they have two young adult children, Emily and Samuel. Karen Winsemius - Children's and Families MinisterKaren heads up the team who run the children and families ministry at St Alfred's. She loves sharing the gospel with kids in creative and active ways and encouraging young leaders to grow and develop their leadership skills. Karen was a primary school teacher before deciding that working in children's ministry was much more important than teaching grammar and writing reports. Sarah Long - Young Adults' Ministry InternSarah Long is our young adults' ministry intern. She is passionate about growing young peoples' desire to know God more and encouraging them to share their faith with those in their universities and workplaces. She is also finishing off her degree in biomedical science at Monash University. Sarah likes to spend the spare moments of her week by catching up with friends over brunch, a good coffee, or sometimes even dessert! |
